I'm really loving how you simplify what intensity should look and feel like. I'm always considering that real people just need good, honest, doable goals.
I appreciate this. Complexity is the enemy of execution.
Training should be difficult enough to be effective (move the needle on health markers) but doable enough to be accessible for the majority of the population who live regular lives.
Training should improve your life, not replace it.
I just started the strength training 2x/week not too long ago, decided to sign up with a personal trainer and I have my sessions during my lunch break at work- had never done any exercising during lunch because I didn’t think I could fit it into my schedule. Now that I have been doing it for over a month, it was the best decision I ever made and I feel so much better physically!
I always used that excuse as well as thinking I just didn’t have time to leave work and then come back afterwards. Thankfully the gym is only a 5 minute drive and personal training is 30 minutes which easily gives me time to get back. I also don’t sweat much when lifting so I don’t need to shower afterwards.
This is just so reassuring to read after reading mountains of nonsense around exercise for years. Thanks for putting together something simple.

I wanted to try lunch workouts but it’s really hard to change clothes in the middle of the day…so I try to go for a walk after lunch…

That’s really great! As long as I can fit it in somewhere during the day, I’m happy…
This is great! Maybe you should have an accountability chat open each day…something like:
Have you done 3 reps light weights and 30min walk today?
Then, have you rested today?
And so on…
And we can all follow your simple drills for motivation 😉😊
Or maybe this chat already exists?
Great article. It doesn't have to be complicated.
